This project was a heartfelt design endeavor created for the family of a Navy veteran. Crafted with care and respect, I sought to honor his life’s moments of courage, humor, and dedication while thoughtfully balancing them against the difficulties he faced later in life. The layout, imagery, and tone were chosen to convey a sense of dignity and remembrance, using visual storytelling to highlight his service and humanity.
WHAT WE DID
This project involved extensive research across online sources and physical archives to locate imagery and assemble details that shaped a complete and authentic life story. The design leaned into the traditional visual language of obituary work, using stark color contrasts to create emotional impact and convey solemnity. Through careful composition and narrative balance, the final piece honors both the dignity and complexity of the life it represents.
RESULT
The loss resonated deeply among family and friends, and the completed piece became a meaningful tribute to their loved one. The family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the care and sensitivity invested in the design, sharing that it allowed them to celebrate the beauty of a life remembered rather than the sorrow of its loss.

The untimely death of the patriarch known as "Woody" was a blow not only to his loved ones but a vast community that span generations. I worked to create a memorable obituary that captured the love.

RESULT
Writing an obituary that truly captures the essence of a person is always an honor, but this particular tribute touched me in ways I didn’t anticipate. The individual’s profound impact extended beyond family and friends, reaching an entire community that cherished his presence. Crafting this obituary was both a responsibility and a privilege—one that I approached with the utmost respect for his legacy. The outpouring of support was evident, as the obituary was so warmly received it quickly became a sought-after keepsake among those wishing to remember him. Seeing it resonate so widely reaffirmed the importance of telling these stories with authenticity and care, celebrating a life well lived and deeply loved.
